Cherry Blossom season in the Nation's Capital is such a magical time...everyone just seems happier, ya know? Maybe it's that Winter is officially over, flowers are peaking up from the ground, the air smells fragrant and we get to "Ooh!" and "Aah!" at all the beautiful cherry trees. And there are a lot of fun events designed to get us out of the house and enjoying this special time of year!
Blossom Kite Festival, March 31st, Washington Monument. Competitions and casual flying. Kits available to buy, or bring your own kite, and a blanket to sit and watch.
CB 10-Miler, April 8th. Tidal Basin, Hains Point, and Washington Monument are the locations you'll hit, running under cherry trees. If you're not a runner, take part in the 5K Walk.
Japanese Street Festival, April 14th, Pennsylvania Avenue. Now in its' 58th year. The largest Japanese celebration in the country.
CB Chase, April 11th. A 2-hour nighttime bike ride from Dupont to Hains Point, ending at a restaurant or bar.
