One year ago, Taylor Swift earned a court victory over the radio DJ who sexually assaulted her.
Last night in Tampa Florida, Taylor got emotional sharing memories from that trial in Colorado. She blamed the tears on this being the first time she’s publicly shared her thoughts on “a horrible part of my life.”
Taylor said as she sat behind her piano, (quote) “A year ago, the jury sided in my favor and said that they believed me. I think about all the people that weren’t believed. The people who haven’t been believed. And the people who are afraid to speak up because they think they won’t be believed.”
In response, the sold-out stadium took out one dollar bills from their wallets and held them high for Taylor to see. That’s all she asked the jury to reward her. One dollar as a symbolic gesture that her case wasn’t about money. It was about the truth. And that no women – no person – should ever be sexually abused or assaulted. (People)
