An obsessed stalker of Taylor Swift drove three times from Texas to Nashville to hand-deliver notes. Since January, the tone of 40 letters by Eric Swarbrick became increasingly violent. He threatened to rape and murder Taylor.
Naturally, she got a restraining order. Police in Nashville, Texas and the FBI kept closely watch on Swarbrick, who was arrested on Wednesday. U.S. Attorney Don Cochran said, (quote) “The attention given to this matter and the federal charges we have brought should serve to prevent a future tragic event.”
He’s charged with federal crimes of “interstate stalking, and sending interstate communications with the intent to threaten.”
Back in early August, Nashville police arrested Swarbrick at the offices of Taylor’s record label. He threatened suicide in front of the label’s CEO if he wasn’t introduced to Taylor. His obsession heightened and his note-writing became more frequent and frightening. (The Tennessean)
