Virginia McLauren, Washington, DC's favorite centenarian -- known by many as "Grandma Virginia" -- celebrated her 110th birthday yesterday.
The native of South Carolina was born in 1909 and has lived in Washington, D.C., since 1941. She never expected to ever see the inside of the White House. That changed in 2016 when Barack and Michelle Obama invited her over.
Virginia spent a few minutes with the Obamas, sharing hugs and even a quick dance. She said she couldn't believe she lived long enough to see a black president.
Although the Obama's no longer live in the White House, they haven't forgotten about her. Michelle wished her a happy birthday on Instagram, sharing a photo of them from 2016 with the caption, "Still dancing at 110 years old -- happy birthday, Virginia!” (People)
