I saw this on the nightly news last evening and was moved to tears...
Jon Stewart skewered some politicians on Tuesday -- but it wasn't in good fun like on The Daily Show.
An emotional Stewart testified at a House Judiciary Committee hearing about permanent funding for the 9/11 Victims Compensation Fund, which largely benefits first responders. Noting that many seats in the room were unfilled, he said, "They responded in five seconds. They did their jobs -- with courage, grace, tenacity, humility. 18 years later, do yours!"
Stewart also criticized lawmakers for not having passed legislation already.
The Victims Compensation Fund began depleting its funding in February, and outstanding claims will be paid at just 50 percent of their value. New claims will be paid at just 30 percent. (USA Today)
