For the last 4 years, Rockville business owner Samy Kobrosly has been the force behind "Snacklins", a vegan pork rind. Samy says his chips came about by accident: "We started off making a vegan pork rind, which I know makes no sense. But what we had was this delicious, crunchy chip that people loved and it was really healthy."
Snacklins are made from a mix of mushrooms, onions and yucca. Each bag contains just 80 calories and 3 flavors are available: miso soy, barbecue and Chesapeake Bay.
And last night on ABC's "Shark Tank", Samy got the chance to pitch his chips!
Mark Cuban was the only shark who gave Snacklins a chance...Samy initially wanted $200,000 for 2.5% of his company. Mark said that offer didn't impress him, so Samy upped it to 5% for $250,000. Mark then offered $250,000 for 5% equity and 5% advisory shares...and Samy said yes!
I've actually tried Snacklins before and I can attest that they are indeed quite yummy! Congrats to you, Samy!
