You've seen the heartbreaking photos of koalas in Australia suffering from burns...and the kangaroos hopping away from approaching flames. The video of the teenagers driving around and putting as many koalas in their car as they can. The staggering statistic...that a BILLION animals have been killed as bushfires continue across the continent. IT'S UNBELIEVABLE. And many of us feel completely helpless. What can we do, besides donating money to fire relief efforts?
Well, one woman decided to put her years of sewing experience to use.
Norfolk's Joani Gramm has been creating wallaby, joey and bat pouches, along with wraps, blankets, sweaters and beds for animals that are now without a mother...a mother that was killed in the fires.
She was inspired by a group called the Animal Rescue Craft Guild...and you, too, can get involved!
