One thing's for sure...the pandemic has helped with the resurgence of the drive-in movie theater. When it became clear last Summer that outdoor entertainment options were gonna be limited, drive-ins began cropping up throughout the DMV. There were 2 already in existence, one in Middle River, Md, another in Stephens City, Va...but many pop-up theaters were created in and around the DC Metro area. And one of those is going to continue to offer drive-in movies this Fall!
The Alexandria Drive-In, presented by ALX Community and The Garden at 5001 Eisenhower Avenue, sold out its' 6 weeks of shows in 4 days when it announced that it was opening a few months ago ...obviously, folks were clamoring for a way to safely enjoy the moviegoing experience. So, the theater will return, starting this weekend with Halloween films, and will continue into December with holiday movies!
