No player will ever wear #11 for the Washington Nationals again. The team announced yesterday they plan to retire the Ryan Zimmerman's number in June. It's a celebration that is big enough for two days with special events taking place on June 17th and 18th. It marks the first jersey retirement for the franchise since moving to D.C. in 2005.
On June 17th, there's a special Zim giveaway planned. The following day will feature the jersey retirement ceremony.
I'm so glad the team is honoring Ryan in this way. He deserves nothing less, after all he's meant to the Nats and to DC for 16 seasons.
