A federal judge has blocked a scheduled auction of the iconic dress worn by Judy Garland in The Wizard of Oz - due to a disagreement over who owns it.
Dorothy's blue and white dress was expected to sell for more than a million dollars at an auction this week. In 1973, the dress was given to a local priest at the Catholic University here in DC. He died in 1986 and the university claims it is the rightful owner of the dress. But a woman in Wisconsin, who says she is the niece of the late priest, argues that the dress belongs to the family's estate and is suing the university and the auctioneer. A judge will hear the case in court next month. (New York Times)
One of my besties is a "Wizard Of Oz" FANATIC, and she actually drove up to NYC to see the dress in person! Look at how geeked out she was!!!
