A sinkhole that suddenly developed on southbound 270 in Montgomery County - before the exit for 370 - won't be repaired for a week, and officials are urging motorists to adjust their commute schedules accordingly. The sinkhole is the result of a broken six-foot drainage pipe. Officials encourage motorists to use 355, mass transit or telework.
Now, the good news is that the signals on 355 have been adjusted for more "green" time during the commutes but the bad news is that traveling south on 270 between Germantown and Gaithersburg, you're down from 5 lanes to 3. Allow extra travel time whether you're taking 270 or 355.
