Meta debuted its new Threads app a day earlier than expected. The new app was reportedly created to rival Elon Musk's Twitter.
Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg said Threads was created to "take the best parts of Instagram and create a new experience for text, ideas and discussing what's on your mind."
On Threads, you'll be able to post text up to 500 characters with photos and videos, and you can also "like," repost and comment on "threads" from other users. The company said, “Our vision is that Threads will be a new app more focused on text and dialogue, modeled after what Instagram has done for photo and video."
Users will be able to use their Instagram info to log into the new app. (CBS News)
Mark Zuckerberg says more than 10 million users signed up within the first few hours of the app's launch. (CBS News)
