Where do you stand on free sunscreen at the beach?
Back in 2015, Miami Beach was the first one in the USA to offer dispensers of SPF 30 sunscreen. New York City now has about 100 dispensers located alongside nine beaches and at a fishing pier. Long Island beachgoers can take advantage of dispensers both oceanside and on the boardwalk. You can also find free sunscreen at parks in the Atlanta area.
There’s no doubt the dispensers encourage visitors to use – and reapply – life-saving sunscreen. But some question whether that is the government’s responsibility…and point out that chemicals in some sunscreens have been shown to damage corals (and perhaps crabs).
Any thoughts?
