This Shelf Cloud Loomed Over A Popular Delaware Beach Last Week

This is just wild. Monday, August 19th this shelf cloud formed almost suddenly over Rehoboth Beach, Delaware and the 75 mph winds that came with it ripped the heavy duty umbrellas right out of the sand and threw them around like they were those little drink umbrellas! A vacationer snapped this picture from a safe seat at the nearby Green Turtle that overlooks the boardwalk. The shot was so impressive showing this ominous shelf cloud that it was recently published as part of the article on the storm in The Washington Post. I have never seen, nor heard of a shelf cloud, but the article posted below will explain what it is in detail. Crazy, right?
