Owning a Dog Linked To Lower Risk of Death From Heart Disease

While owning a dog has its ups and downs, it looks like one major benefit is health related. This recent study found those who suffered from heart disease or suffered stroke, had a better chance at recovery and fewer complications afterward if they were dog owners. Doctors state that loneliness and a sedentary lifestyle are both factors that attribute to premature death, and dog owners always have the company of their four-legged friend right by their side, in addition to their pup needed to go on walks and be taking to interact with other dogs. It looks like we don't just save a dogs life when we adopt them, but they can also save ours.

I'm certainly glad I got over my anxiety of the responsibility and life change adopting a dog can cause, because Lia is an amazing dog and provides so much comfort and joy to not just myself and my husband, but to our five-year-old daughter, Eleanor. Theirs is a truly special bond.
