FDA Adds Five Hand Sanitizers to List of Brands to Avoid

About a month ago, we started to hear about toxic hand sanitizers that contain methanol or "wood alcohol". Now, the list tops 14 with an additional five that have just been added to the list.

  • Grupo Insoma's Hand Sanitizer Gel Unscented, 70% alcohol)
  • Transliquid Technologies' Mystic Shield Protection Hand Sanitizer
  • Soluciones Cosmeticas' Bersih Hand Sanitizer Gel Fragrance Free and Antiseptic Alcohol 70% Topical Solution Hand Sanitizer
  • Tropicosmeticos' Britz Hand Sanitizer Ethyl Alcohol 70%

Methanol is not an acceptable ingredient in hand sanitizer and experts say it is toxic and should absolutely not be used. If you or someone you know has any of these brands, make sure to pitch them and contact your doctor.
