Add it to the list of things to worry about in 2020! The puss caterpillar is highly poisonous caterpillar that has made its way to Virginia. Residents are urged to avoid these furry looking caterpillars, because while they may seem harmless to pet they actually have poisonous spines that initially feel like a bee sting, but could land you in the hospital. After the bee sting sensation subsides, those stung by the puss caterpillar can expect intense pain, nausea, fever and even go into shock. The caterpillar is known to travel along the east coast so it's not out of the question that they are in eastern Virginia, but it is imperative that you stay away.
