This study got my immediate attention, but I have definitely noticed a decline in my mental health since working from home for so long. It's hard to all be stuck under the same roof for an indefinite amount of time, and I personally miss the social aspect of work.
That being said Moe Vela who is a remote work expert, suggests these six tips will help to improve your mental health while working from home.
- Engage in self-care
- Distinguish between personal and workspace in your home and the same with your time
- Stay connected and communicate frequently with your colleagues, boss, clients, family, and friends
- Take part in any mental health activities and resources your employer offers
- Don’t even be embarrassed to admit that you are struggling with your mental health—it’s no different than the flu
- Share your fears and concerns with trusted colleagues, family, or friends—talk about it
I think these are all a great idea and helpful. After an exceptionally hard, demotivating or just depressing day I often take a bath. Do I wish I was getting a professional massage, absolutely! However, I know that a few moments of "me" time will help tremendously. I also am a huge advocate of mental health and as a Psychology minor thinks EVERYONE should have access to a therapist or counselor. So many are covered by insurance these days. Break the stigma! Be well <3
