First we got indoor sky diving, now we are getting indoor skiing?? It's true. Fairfax County is soon to be home to "Alpine X", one of the largest indoor ski facilities in the world! Are you intrigued? It's going to be massive, coming in at 450,000 square feet with its longest slope at 1,700 feet!
I have been both sky diving and skiing out in the real world, and find neither of these indoor options intriguing. I mean, I guess you could make and argument for indoor sky diving to be safer, but I'm sure it has its own risks as well. As far as indoor skiing goes, I fail to see the attraction.
Oh, and the site of this new indoor skiing facility will be in Lorton, atop a landfill.
