My husband and I were just talking about the necessity to have gum or mints on you all the time these days because of such prolonged mask usage. He is a teacher and wears his mask indoors for close to 10 hours a day. While I don't have to wear my mask while I'm on the air, I do work out in a mask and after an hour of heavy breathing and exertion I can't wait to throw the disposable mask away and give my teeth a good brushing. But, what happens when you are out of gum or mints and there is no toothpaste and toothbrush in reach? Prevention magazine just released an article claiming these four foods are a great way to naturally freshen your breath.
- Cinnamon -- the oil in cinnamon contains antimicrobial properties
- Grapefruit - citric acid gets rid of particles and germs that contribute to bad breath
- Parsley - chlorophyll acts as a deodorizer and neutralizes sulfur compounds
- Pears - the fruit is high is polyphenols that contain antimicrobial properties to help combat not only mouth odor but also cavities and periodontal disease
