Your Venti Starbucks Drink Might Not Have More Espresso Than A Grande.

When you want to get the biggest boost from your Starbucks drink, ordering a Venti seems like the right move. However, it turns out, just because that’s the largest size doesn’t mean that drink has more caffeine than a Grande, one size smaller.

So before you fork over extra money for the Venti, know that a Venti hot drink (20-ounces) has two shots of espresso in it, but so does a Grande hot drink (16-ounces). That’s true of the Cafe Lattes, Vanilla Lattes, Cappuccinos, White Chocolate Mochas, and Caramel Macchiatos -  both the Venti and Grande sizes of those contain 150mg of caffeine.

Both sizes of a Flat White contain the same amount, 195 mg caffeine, and both Venti and Grande Latte Macchiatos also have the same amount of  caffeine, 225mg. But there are exceptions to this and some Ventis  actually do contain more caffeine. The Venti Cafe Americano has 75mg  more caffeine than a Grande, and a Venti Cafe Mocha has 10mg more caffeine than a Grande, but that’s probably from the chocolate in it.  And iced Venti drinks are larger (24-ounces) than hot ones, so those get three shots of espresso instead of two.

That means the Venti size of most of your favorite hot drinks at Starbucks are filled with more milk or flavor syrups and not more caffeine. They still taste delicious, but if you’re looking for more buzz from your espresso drink, you might need to order an extra shot.
