When you finally get a date night and you’re looking forward to  mind-blowing sex, the last thing you want to do is derail your good time  by eating or drinking something that could throw you off your game. You  know how there are some foods that can boost your sex drive? Well, some  can do the complete opposite, making it hard to enjoy sexy time. So don’t eat or drink these before a romantic night.

  • Alcohol - A little liquid courage can help us feel  more confident and carefree, but alcohol is a depressant, so a few to  many drinks can slow down the function of your central nervous system  and kill the bedroom mood.
  • Microwave popcorn - When you Netflix and chill,  skip this snack because the chemicals in the linings of popcorn bags  have been linked to a lower sex drive, according to nutritionist Frida Harju-Westman.
  • Fried foods - Save those fries for a day when  you’re not planning to get busy because fried foods can cause  dehydration and fatigue and the salt can cause fluid retention and  bloating. Not exactly how you’re hoping to feel before getting intimate.
  • Cheese - Sure, it’s totally delicious, but it  cheese can lower libido because it “wreaks havoc with your hormones for  both men and women,” Harju-Westman explains.
  • Soda - It’s the refined sugar in soda that kills your sex drive because it can increase anxiety and depression levels.
  • Corn Flakes - Why did this innocent breakfast cereal make the list? It turns out, John Harvey Kellogg,  the creator of the flakes, was a huge believer in abstinence and spent a  considerable amount of time coming up with foods that would blunt  sexual urges,” Harju-Westman explains.
  • Beans and legumes - Eating these can lead to gassy bellies, which doesn’t really put anyone in the mood.
