If you’re looking for love online, your musical tastes could be helping, or hurtingyour ability to find love. It seems that folks who like certain genres of music tend to be finding more matches.
The online dating site Plenty of Fish looked at more than nine-million profiles to discover how musical tastes affect matches, and found that being a country music fan can be very beneficial if you’re a male. In fact, male country music fans get 32% more messages and are 65% more likely to find a match on the app. Not only that, they're 49% more likely to not be looking for just a hookup. When it comes to females, they are 68% more likely to find a match if they are a classic rock fan, and 9% more likely to find a mate if they love heavy metal music.
The study also found that when it comes to commitment, women are 93% more likely to be looking to tie the knot if they are classical music fans, while male rap fans are 16% more likely to be looking for something serious.
