No one wants to talk about the P-word just before getting hitched. The idea is that you believe you’ll be with this person for the rest of your lives. Why go through the process of signing paperwork saying what happens to your things if the relationship goes south? Well, because you really never know what could happen. And if there’s anyone who knows that, it’s millennials.
Sure, millennials are killing divorce. As far as we know, millennials are pretty much in it for the long haul when it comes to choosing someone to settle down with. But we’ve seen our share of ugly divorces between our parents, aunts and uncles, our friends’ parents… There’s no telling what could happen. And the stigma around asking for a prenup is slowly diminishing.
Here’s the deal – millennials are terrified of divorce, and they’re going to cross their T’s and dot their I’s before going into anything long term. We’ve got stuff, and we want to protect it! Even from the loves of our lives.
