"Elle" magazine used a fake headline about Kim Kardashian and Kanye West breaking up to direct people to a voter registration page.
Elle magazine stirred up controversy when they pulled the bait and switch with a salacious headline. In case you missed it, they tweeted about Kim Kardashian and Kanye West splitting up with a link to what was supposed to be a story. Instead, it was a link to a voter registration page.
Not everyone was pleased about it. Roxane Gay said, “Who do you think you are reaching with this? Guess what? One can be civic minded and interested in celebrity gossip.” Another called the stunt “super insulting to Elle readers.”
So far, no comment from Kim or Kanye.
