A source had said her father heard news of Meghan's pregnancy before it was announced, but he didn't.
There were some reports that mentioned Meghan Markle’s estranged dad Thomas Markle had gotten word of her pregnancy before it was made public, but apparently, he didn't. He's revealed to the Daily Mail himself that he heard the news at the same time as the rest of the world.
Thomas explains that after hearing the announcement “on the car radio” while waiting to cross the border between the United States and Mexico, where he lives, he was “filled with love, joy and happiness for both my beautiful daughter and son-in-law.” And he is hopeful about seeing the baby one day.
“The first thing I thought about was holding Meghan in my arms as a newborn 37 years ago. I thought, ‘My baby is having a baby,” he added. “A new baby is a blessing and I look forward to seeing a little Meghan or a little Harry.”
According to a palace source, Meghan is indeed planning on becoming a British citizen. It’s unclear whether she’ll be ditching her United States citizenship, which also brings into question the citizenship of her baby with Prince Harry… and whether that child could potentially be a United States president one day. Before their son or daughter turns 18 years old, the couple will have to fill out some special paperwork to make them a naturalized US citizen. If they do, the child will be eligible to become POTUS, even while being the seventh in line for the British throne.
