Get ready grown-ups, there’s a new LEGO in town and it was designed with us in mind. The toymaker now makes a product for adults that’s supposed to help improve our mental health. LEGO Ideas - the brand’s platform for open source innovation - and IndieGoGohave paired up on this crowdfunding effort that “helps you reconnect with your imagination and disconnect from the stress of life.”
The new “FORMA” LEGO uses LEGO pieces to create a fish that comes with four options or customizable skins, a crankshaft and gear system to let it move like it’s swimming. LEGO says it’s “an experience designed for adults looking for a fun, engaging way to reconnect with their creative side,” and surveyed over 13,000 people to get their input on concepts and understand their needs, as well as the relationship “between well-being and play.”
The survey reveals that 86% of respondents believe playing will help them feel more relaxed and reduce stress and anxiety. And these customizable kits with skins that come in Koi, Shark, Splash Koi, or decorate your own with the Ink Koi Skin” are supposed to help you unwind and let the anxiety slip away. IndieGoGo says they’ll be ready to ship in January 2019, right when the bliss of the holidays wears off and we’ll need some stress relief.
