Dictionary.com Reveals The "Word Of The Year"!

These days it's hard to trust everything we hear and read, which could be why Dictionary.com has named “misinformation” as 2018’s Word of the Year. The site defines the term as "false information that is spread, regardless of whether there is intent to mislead," and blames technology it's prevalence, noting that misinformation is widespread in several areas these days, including identity, environmental, health, political and economic concerns

While misinformation took the top title this year, other words came in not far behind. Runners up for Word of The Year include:

• “representation,” used a lot when talked about representation in movies like “Crazy Rich Asians” and “Black Panther.”

• “self-made,” which saw an increase in look ups after “Forbes” called Kylie Jenner a “self-made billionaire.”

• “backlash,” which, seems to be used for all sorts of things these days, particularly the appointment of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanagh.
