Woman Finds Wedding Ring Nine Years After She Flushed It!

It’s been nine years since Paula Stanton was cleaning the bathroom in her New Jersey home and realized that her ring was missing. The gold band encrusted with diamonds had been a gift from her husband, Michael, for their 20th anniversary and she figured that she must have flushed it down the toilet as she was cleaning.

Michael later replaced the ring and joked for her to “hold onto this one,” but she never stopped thinking about the original or feeling bad for losing it. Then three years ago, Paula reached out to Ted Gogol, an acquaintance of Michael’s who works for the public works department. It had been six years, but she told him the story of the ring and how upset she was about it and he didn’t have much hope of them finding it, but he told her he’d keep an eye out for it.

He never spotted the ring, but then last month, nine years after it went missing, Gogol was doing maintenance on a sewer line just 400 feet from the Stanton’s home and she saw something shiny. There in the muck was Paula’s ring! Now she has it back and after cleaning it thoroughly as instructed by a jeweler, she’s wearing the original alongside the replacement.

“People say around this time of year crazy things happen,” Gogol says. “She said it was her Christmas miracle.”
