A new study has found that the brains of men age faster than the brains of women.
The researchers analyzed brain scans of more than 200 adults, specifically looking at a measure of the brain's
metabolism
that's known to change with age.
Researchers found that women's brains, on average, appear to be about 3.8 years younger than their actual ages. The brains of men, on the other hand, are about 2.4 years older than their true ages. The scientists believe this could be a big reason why women tend to outlive men and stay mentally sharp longer.
