Here Is Why You Wake Up At The Same Time Every Night!

If you’re constantly waking up in the middle of the night and checking the clock to find it’s 2 a.m. again, it’s beyond frustrating. According to sleep medicine expert Dr. Jose Colon, nobody sleeps through the night. He says it’s totally normal to wake up four to six times a night, but we should be able to get right back to sleep when it happens. If you’re waking up at the same time consistently, here’s what it could be revealing about you and your body.

  • Waking up between 9pm and 11pm – This could be a sign you’re feeling anxious or stressed or that screens on devices or noisy surroundings are keeping you from sleep. The fix for this is trying a relaxing yoga routine or adopting a regular night time routine to help calm and relax you and ditching the screens an hour before bedtime.
  • Waking up between 11pm and 1am – Your gallbladder could be waking you up because it’s actively trying to break down all the fats you’ve eaten, so having your dinner earlier in the evening and avoiding late-night snacking could help.
  • Waking up between 1am and 3am – According to the Chinese Body Clock, your liver is being refreshed during these hours, so if this is when you typically wake up, you liver could be working overtime. Tweaking your diet and passing on that last glass of wine could solve the issue.
  • Waking up between 3am and 5am – This is the time your lungs are said to be working the hardest, so if you usually wake up then it could be a sign you need to eat healthier food or breathe cleaner air. You can also try getting outside during the day for some fresh air and exercise.
  • Waking up between 5am and 7am – The Chinese Body Clock says this is the time for renewal and cleansing of your large intestine. And since its job is to clear the toxic waste from our systems, waking up then could be a sign of a weakness in this area. So sleep experts suggest drinking more water during the day and making sure you aren’t holding onto guilt or emotions that you need to let go of.
