When expecting a baby, it’s normal for parents-to-be to discuss names for their child, but it’s rare they actually start calling the baby-to-be by that name until they are actually here. So, instead, many will resort to nicknames for their baby bump, and some can be quite clever.
A new British poll, which could easily translate here, finds that 90% of moms and dads had a different name for their baby during a pregnancy, with 55% saying they continued to use the nickname after their child was born, and another 20% saying that nickname influenced the name they wound up giving their child. As for the biggest reason they gave their bump a nickname? Well, 61% said it was so they could stop calling the bump “it.”
