A New Device Allows Men To Breastfeed!

It’s exhausting being a new mom, but technology is here to help. A Japanese tech company just debuted a new invention at the South by Southwest conference that will make it possible for dads to “breastfeed” babies too, so moms can have a break.

Dentsu says its new father’s nursing assistant is “a wearable device that resembles a woman’s breasts and is equipped with a tank for milk or formula and a nipple.” It also tracks the baby’s sleeping and eating habits and parents can see the info on an app. The company says it created this to help ease parents’ stress related to an infant’s sleeping or feeding routine, as well as to give dads a chance to participate in the process, too.

"Breastfeeding is also effective at helping the parent sleep—a benefit that is currently skewed toward women," Dentsu explains in a press release. "Focusing on breastfeeding, we aim to decrease the amount of burden on mothers and increase the amount of time infants sleep by enabling fathers to breastfeed."
