MD Teacher On Leave After Attending A Student's Graduation Party!

A Quince Orchard teacher has been put on leave after attending a graduation party, where underage students drank alcohol.

After get word of the situation, Principal Elizabeth Thomas sent a letter home to families, saying the incident occurred on Thursday, May 16.

Gboyinde Onijala, a spokesperson for Montgomery County Public Schools, confirmed to MyMCMedia in an email that the “staff member” is a teacher at QO and is currently on administrative leave.

Thomas didn’t specifically name the teacher in the letter but said that the school system was working with the police.

Now the name of the teacher has been revealed. His name is Tadesse Goshime, a 66 year old math teacher at Quince Orchard H.S and he is due to retire this Summer.

Students and faculty have began to rally beind Mr. Goshime.

A spokesman for Montgomery County Police confirmed that although the department is aware of the incident, it is not pursuing any criminal charges against Goshime or the graduation party hosts.
