Your Sleep Tracker Is Useless!

We all know that getting a good night’s sleep is important for our health, which is why a lot of folks have turned to sleep trackers to help them monitor the shut-eye they’re getting each night. But guess what? You may have shelled out a lot of money on something that’s basically useless.

Many health experts warn that popular sleep-tracking devices really don’t do much good, basically because they are not only inaccurate, but they really don’t provide deep, comprehensive information about sleep patterns.

One of the main issues is that sleep trackers base their measurements of how long you sleep on movement, with the thought being that you move more when you’re awake than when you are asleep, but that’s not necessarily true for everyone. Plus, to really learn anything about your sleep you need to know more than just how long you sleep. Also, the trackers don’t provide any reason behind someone sleep patterns and what a person can do to fix it.

But sleep trackers aren’t a complete waste. Some experts note that they can help you recognize some patterns in your sleep behavior, which may lead you to change them, like say realizing exercise helps you sleep, which could motivate you to get to the gym more often.
