Video of a Six-Month Old Baby Water Skiing Shocks Internet

At six months, babies may be learning to sit up on their own and may be getting their first tooth, but Rich Casey Humphreys is over here breaking a world record. At six-months and four-days old, this little guy has become the youngest water skier in the world. Yep, six months! His parents are celebrating, but critics are slamming them for not putting safety first.

On his Instagram page, Rich’s parents, Casey and Mindi Humphreys, posted a video of him wearing a life jacket as he holds onto a bar on a board that’s being pulled across Lake Powell in Utah. An adult is seen on a boat within arms-reach of the baby, but he manages to stay standing and hang on without help. And while he may be having fun and even have become the youngest baby in the world to water ski, the parenting police have a lot to say about this risky pastime.

“This just isn’t okay,” one viewer comments. “So many things could have gone wrong. It’s not cute just for likes.” Another asks, “Can we report this? Surely this abuse!” But the Humphreys have plenty of defenders, with some of them calling the critics “helicopter parents.” “These haters can’t relate,” writes one. “Their kids are probably on video games all day.” And another viewer chimes in that people “need to stop always coddling their children, this baby is six months old and is living his best life.”
