Our new president has a well-documented fondness for ice cream and now he’s getting his very own flavor. Joe Biden is a fan of the brand Jeni’s Splendid, an Ohio-based ice cream company, and has become friends with its founder, Jeni Britton Bauer. Over the years she’s gotten to know his go-to order and now she’s created a flavor based on it.
To celebrate the 46th president’s first days in office, Britton Bauer has made White House Chocolate Chip, which is inspired by his favorite order: a double scoop of chocolate chip ice cream on a waffle cone. Jeni’s Splendid’s take on that is “velvety vanilla” ice cream with crunchy chocolate flakes from Theo Chocolate swirled with little pieces of chocolate-covered waffle cones. You can get it by the pint online or in their scoop shops now, but it’s only around for a limited-time.
Taking inspo from Biden’s inauguration speech, Britton Bauer describes the flavor as one that “can bring people together.” She says White House Chocolate Chip is “perfectly positioned for meeting on common ground,” adding that “like Joe, it’s easy to love.”
