You Can Eat Cicadas and They Apparently Taste Like Shrimp

Millions of Cicadas will pop up from the ground soon and they may be the star of your next dish.

Cicadas are actually related to shrimp and lobster and are eaten in many cultures around the world. They are apparently full of nutrients like iron and protein. Similar to veal, cicadas will be most "tender" when they’re new to the world so the first few days are the perfect time to harvest.

The best way to clean them? Blanch them in boiling water for a few minutes, which will kill the bugs and any bugs on the bugs...and then cook them like you would do shrimp! Cicada linguini anyone?

Note: Producer Kala is writing this blog and is really trying to hold back her breakfast from returning.
