The Date People Think Life Will Go Back to "Normal"

One of the many hard parts of the past year was not being able to celebrate holidays with family and friends, and now that more and more people are getting vaccinated, it seems folks are looking forward to celebrating again. But when will celebrations go back to “normal?”

  • A new Numerator poll set out to discover when folks think holiday celebrations will return to “normal.”
  • 24% of those polled say they’ve already celebrated at least one holiday this year.
  • The majority of folks, 59%, expect a return to normalcy by July 4th.
  • But a good amount of people plan to start this weekend, with 39% expecting to have a normal Mother’s Day celebration, although 67% do expect it to have some sort of COVID impact.
  • As for the next big holiday coming up, Memorial Day, 44% hope things will be back to normal by then, with 29% expecting their plans to be unaffected by the pandemic, although 51% are still less likely to travel than previous years.
  • Overall, 43% of people say they are ready to celebrate holidays like they normally would.
  • That’s true for 38% of people who are vaccinated, and 57% of people who do not plan to get vaccinated.
  • But 31% of people admit they will “ease back” into normal celebrations, something 36% of those vaccinated, and only 12% of those who don’t plan to get vaccinated agree with.
