It may sometimes feel like the end of the world when you make a huge mistake at the office, but the Internet is letting one intern know it is an all too common occurrence and they shouldn’t feel bad about it.
It all started when some HBO Max subscribers were left baffled when they received an odd email from the streaming service late Thursday that had a headline of “Integration Test Email #1,” with only one line of text, “This template is used by integration tests only.” After the email started making the rounds of social media, HBO Max sent out a tweet from its Twitter help account, sharing, “We mistakenly sent out an empty test email to a portion of our HBO Max mailing list this evening,” adding, “We apologize for the inconvenience, and as the jokes pile in, yes, it was the intern. No, really. And we’re helping them through it.”
Well, Twitter decided to help too. The post quickly went viral with many folks sharing the embarrassing mistakes they made at work, including one person who almost took down Spotify, and another who didn’t recognize then-VP George H.W. Bush and almost didn’t let him in a meeting at the Cabinet room in the White House. Even famous intern Monica Lewinsky chimed in, writing, “dear intern: it gets better. ♥️ ps. don’t wear a beret for a while, k?”
