Facebook is changing its name. Multiple outlets are reporting that Facebook is about to launch a rebranding campaign that will include a new name for the company.
According to The Verge, CEO Mark Zuckerberg will talk about the coming name change next week at Facebook's annual Connect conference. The new name announcement is meant to signal the tech giant's aim to be known for more than social media.
The rebrand is expected to position the Facebook app as one of many products under a separately named parent company. Previously, Zuckerberg told The Verge that the coming years would see Facebook “effectively transition from people seeing us as primarily being a social media company to being a metaverse company.”
