The Most Generous Cities In The US

The pandemic hasn’t stopped the generosity of Americans, in fact, Giving USA reports that donations to charity actually increased 5.1% compared to 2019. Giving Tuesday is coming up tomorrow and a new ranking tells us just which cities are the most generous in the country.

The research from LawnStarter looks at 130 American cities, comparing statistics including the number of people who volunteer in each city, residents who gave more than $25 to charity, number of homeless shelters and food banks, and number of animal shelters. Based on those factors, they have determined 2022’s Most Generous Cities and coming in at number one in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The biggest reasons it tops the list are the number of people who volunteer and individuals who donate money. In fact, both of the Twin Cities did well, with St. Paul, Minnesota, finishing in seventh place.

Minneapolis came in first both overall and in the individual generosity category, with Seattle landing in second place, followed by Portland, Oregon.The top 20 most generous cities in America for 2022 are:
