Woman Starts All-Female Law Firm

Immigration attorney Kathleen Martinez didn’t appreciate being told by her previous all-male bosses to dress “conservatively” so she would be “taken seriously.” When she was fed up with the sexism, the Texas lawyer gave them the boot and moved on with other like-minded women.

In a now-viral TikTok, which has racked up over 4.3-million views so far, Martinez explains how she got her ultimate revenge. “So I started my own firm with a pink brand and stole their clients in the process,” she shares in the clip. She looks like the real-life Elle Woods from “Legally Blonde” as she shows her entirely female “pink empowered” firm, all decked out in pink heels and pink suits, adding that she was tired of being put “in a box” by male colleagues.

“You must always have faith in people; and most importantly, you must always have faith in yourself,” Martinez wrote on a TikTok to the tune of “Perfect Day,” which was used in “Legally Blonde.” And while she previously had to deal with sexist comments in the law world, like when a judicial clerk said her hair wasn’t “lawyerly,” TikTokers have been nothing but positive:

  • “Literally Elle Woods,” shares one user.
  • “AND you’re an immigration attorney? You go girl!” cheers another.
  • “Thank you for being an example for us,” writes a third. “Keep fighting and onward girls!”
  • “I would 100% pick y’all from a client standpoint,” comments another. “Ain’t nothing like a strong woman IN PINK.”
