Shopping on TikTok, especially for vintage and from secondhand dealers, is becoming more and more popular. Unfortunately, sometimes, a high price tag comes with it, higher than it should be. There are also some scammers and dishonest sellers out there, too. Here’s how to shop smart on TikTok.
- Do your homework. Do a few minutes of research before you buy anything from online. Search for the item and also look into the person selling it (if you can).
- Ask questions. Contact the seller politely via DM to ask questions you may have such as color, staining, size, etc. The more you know, the more informed decision you can make on whether to buy it or not.
- Act fast. Vintage and secondhand items has become a super competitive and fast moving market. Express interest in an item as soon as you can.
- Make the payment. If it’s a purchase over $20, use Venmo or CashApp and if possible, wait to pay until you are with the seller picking up your item. Some others say you should offer to pay before you pick up the item, which is a route to take if it’s competitive but you run the risk of buying site unseen.
