It’s getting darker earlier… like so early many of us are still working. It makes it feel like the day’s over and gives us less energy to want to do things. So how can we recharge after work despite all of this?
- Make small adjustments to your lifestyle. Find things to do post work that aren’t too hard on your brain. Focus on yourself, like taking an Epsom salt bath or doing a five-minute stretch.
- Create boundaries. Physically move away from your work desk if you WFH. Create a routine for post-work that you do and stick to.
- Take a tech break. You’ve likely been on technology all day. Have phone free time in the evening.
- Reframe your thinking. Embrace the darker evenings by lighting candles and making your home a cozy environment.
- Get sunlight during the day. Make sure you are getting outside during your workday and if you can’t check out some light boxes or lamps for the home that increase your exposure to light.
- Move your body. Fresh air and exercise can make all the difference. Try to get outdoors.
- Don’t isolate yourself. Don’t just stop being social, still continue to make plans.
- Try some crafts. It’s a great way to get you into a more relaxed headspace. Try things like painting, embroidery, or pottery making.
- Do a puzzle. It’ll take your full attention and really help you unwind.
- Recharge at the weekend. Make fun plans for the weekend that you’ll be looking forward to all week.
