“Daylight Saving” Dating Trend Saves Singles Money

Dating can be tough. First, there’s the challenge of meeting someone you actually want to go out with and then if you do go on a date, and it’s not a total disaster and they don’t ghost you, there’s the fact that it could drain your bank account. And that’s why the “daylight saving” dating trend is taking off.

With budgets stretched as far as they’ll go these days, more singles are switching up their dating game. They’re trading cocktails for coffee by going on dates during the day. New research from Badoo reveals that 58% of singles are opting for daytime dates and for about half of them (45%), the reason is simple. There’s less pressure to drink alcohol during the day, so they’re saving by not buying booze.

Relationship coach Kate Mansfield points out that daytime dates can also feel more casual and don’t have to last as long, so it takes some pressure off. Sober dating is also a big trend, making daylight-saving dates more appealing to abstainers. And with so many people working remotely now, more people are taking advantage of their flexible schedules and meeting a date for breakfast, lunch, or just for coffee. And the fact they can save money doing that just makes it all the more appealing.
