It’s predictable but strange. After the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank last week, people are posting things branded with the company’s logo for sale on eBay to try to make money from the bank’s collapse. The branded merch includes wine tumblers, coffee mugs, shirts, hats, and a very expensive cardboard box.
The listing for the box says it’s a “limited edition” for collectors, and the person selling it says it was received “after getting offer letter one month before the bank blew up.” They noted that they “need to pay rent this month,” and as of yesterday, the bidding for the dented box had risen to $201.
