You’ve likely heard the term “dream job” since you were a kid. But is it even a real thing? Almost half of adults don’t think it is, according to a new study.
The survey spoke to 2,000 workers, and here’s what they thought.
- 46% believe a “dream job” doesn’t exist
- 64% said they’re not even working in the industry they want to be working in
- 71% aren’t in their intended role
- 41% admitted their “dream job” isn’t a realistic goal
- 54% don’t think they’ll ever be in their dream role or industry

- Flexible hours
- Strong financial rewards
- Regular pay raises
- Good employee benefits
- The opportunity to travel
