MYM: Empathy Signs Are Popping Up Across The DMV

A man who wishes to remain anonymous has placed many colorful wooden signs that read "empathy" around Washington D.C. and surrounding areas.

He reached out to News4 to explain that he wants to remind people to think about empathy, without telling them what to think, and to counteract the growing divisiveness in society. He has no intention of monetizing the signs and intends to stay anonymous.

Despite the signs being illegally placed on public utility poles and highways, the county has not received any complaints and has no plans to take them down. The sign maker sees his "civil disobedience" as outweighed by the importance of his message and will continue posting the signs until empathy is widely discussed in the region.
