AI Is Coming To Wendy's Drive-Thrus

Wendy’s is testing out a new AI Chatbot named "Fresh AI" in Columbus, Ohio to take drive-thru orders and other requests and communications in some of the latest AI news. According to the chain, the test concept will allow order-taking and even talking to customers and could be the start of revolutionizing the industry. Google Cloud is making the AI Chatbot and Thomas Kurian, Google Cloud’s Chief said “Generative AI is fundamentally changing how people interact with brands and this generative AI technology will set a new standard for great drive-thru experiences for the quick-service industry.”

So far, the accuracy of the Chatbot isn’t that great – a reported 79% as of 2022, so it remains to be seen how accurate this latest version will be. Other chains such as Popeyes and Sonic have AI ordering tests scheduled in the near future and last year McDonald's tested out a similar concept. Many people fear this is the next step in getting rid of human employees, so stay tuned as AI seems to become more prevalent daily.
